This is a beautiful and well built accessory for FiiO players. It is fully compatible with my FiiO X3II (firmware v2.0). Because it uses the FiiO proprietary uUSB connections, it is not compatible with other players or any other gadget that has a uUSB port. It would be great if I could charge my smartphone on it, but it is not the reason I bought the DK1.
Regarding the functions, it is amazing that such a simple docking station can be used for so many things. It can charge the device when connected to a computer or a generic wall charger with a USB port. When connected to a computer, it can be used either in file transfer mode or as a USB DAC. It has a lineout connection to an external amplifier, which works really well. The sound quality is not affected when using the DK1 in relation to using the FiiO player on its own.
If you have a FiiO player, namely a X1, X3, X5, X7 (please check compatibility for all players), and you use it not only as a portable player but also as a source component or DAC from your computer to a stereo or headphone amplifier, this dock is almost mandatory to have. It is nicely put together, aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, and can really help tiding up your desk, for the only cables that are needed are those that go behind the DK1.
